She Left Me While I Was Building My Dream

— And That Was the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me

Experience I love sharing

Hi, my name is Drey. Yes, she left me — right in the middle of building my network marketing business. What I’m about to share isn’t fiction; it’s my personal story. And though it started with heartbreak, it became one of the best experiences of my life.

At the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey, I was dating someone I’d been with for years. Then one day, she came to me and said she couldn’t continue. According to her, she didn’t see a future in what I was doing, and being with me was lowering her social status. I won’t lie — it hurt deeply. This wasn’t a casual relationship; we had history, dreams, and memories.

I sought advice from mentors at work, and they gave me guidance. But the most important question I asked myself was: “Will she finance my dream for me?” When I realized the answer was no, I knew I had to let go — not just of her, but of the version of me that needed validation to keep going.

Today, I’m a Qualified Sapphire Director in the business, building a thriving business of a Ruby under my belt, happily married with a child, and living the lifestyle she could never have imagined I’d achieve.

This is my way of saying to my ex: limit how much you view my status — doing so might just increase your depression rate.

To anyone out there trying to build something new and promising, here’s my advice:

don’t expect everyone to understand your journey. As long as you understand it, that’s enough.
